Proportions that look right
- Leave about 30–36″ for main walkways and about 18″ between the sofa and a coffee table.
- A coffee table about two-thirds the length of the sofa usually looks balanced.
- Keep the sofa a few inches away from walls and radiators so it does not look cramped.
